Sister Bridges Pylon Fixture Reproduction

The Challenge:

Recreate pylon fixtures that have been lost to history while providing a modern and decorative lighting solution that reestablished Pittsburgh’s past to its present.

The Solution:

Modular International’s approach to this project involved custom engineering to replicate the esthetics, performance and heritage of these pylon fixtures. Fabricated from 316 marine grade stainless steel with a baked black PPG coating and eight custom designed LED modules, these pylon fixtures light the way in the City of Bridges.

At A Glance:

Modular International’s custom engineered bridge pylon fixtures feature 316 marine grade stainless steel framing with a PPG baked applied finish, eight custom designed LED modules and engineered to be drainable and breathable with a sealed compartment for the lighting components.

From the Design Team:

“The new pier lanterns that Modular International designed for the 7th Street Bridge were inspired from a historical picture of the original lanterns that were once on the bridge back when it was built.

Throughout the design and fabrication stages, Modular International worked closely with us to create fixtures that would closely match the historical fixture and provide pleasing luminosity.

The client was very pleased with the end product and we look forward to working with Modular International again.”
