Modular International, Inc. has launched a new addition to its LED module lineup, SOL. The SOL series of LED modules delivers a light spectrum that is the closest spectral match to natural sunlight available in the lighting industry and is available in a wide range of wattage and delivered lumen packages in 50mm, 70mm and 90mm diameters.

SOL LED modules were developed to be the closest match to natural sunlight within the visible spectrum. With a CRI (Ra) rating of >97+ and TM-30 Rf 96.8 & Rg 100.7 at 2700K performance within a 425nm-690nm range (collective 380nm-780nm range), SOL modules deliver consistent performance closely mirroring the blackbody curve without the spectral peaks and valleys of traditional 98, 90, and 80 CRI LED modules.

For over 300,000 years, the functionality of the human body has evolved to be dependent on natural sunlight following a dawn to dusk solar light cycle. Lighting experts, specifiers, and advocates for Human-centric lighting (HCL) systems working across multiple disciplines and building sectors have shown preference to natural light over artificial light when designing interior spaces. Studies have shown that access to 13-15 minutes of exposure to natural daylight is enough to trigger the release of endorphins within the human brain allowing individuals to experience joy, happiness, and warmth.

Lighting specifiers working in both the residential and commercial building sectors strive to avoid exposing occupants to only artificial/ non‐natural lighting conditions and are more in favor of designs with a mixture of high levels of natural daylight and lighting solutions that replicate natural lighting conditions. SOL LED modules promote occupant wellness and have been engineered to closely match the spectral power distribution (SPD) of natural sunlight at 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, and 4000K Correlated Color Temperatures (CCT) with 5000K and 6500K CCTs available upon request. 1800K-4000K and 2700K-6500K color tuning spectrums will soon become available with Tunable White SOL LED modules.
